What is a QDRO?
QDRO, also known as Qualified Domestic Relations Order, is a Court Order to transfer or divide retirement plans pursuant to domestic relations proceedings.
Why do you need a QDRO?
As part of your divorce or legal separation, you may have agreed or been ordered by the Court to transfer some or all of your retirement plan benefits to your former spouse. In order to complete this transfer, you will need a signed QDRO from the Court to your Plan Administrator complete this transfer.
QDROs can also be used to pay outstanding child support payments and alimony.
